Strapped for cash? Need to farm money fast in Abyss? We got you. From spawning in for the first time, and all the way to the end-game, our comprehensive Abyss Money Making and Progression Guide will lead you through all the best cash earning Quests, Chest Locations and the most profitable Fish farming spots.
In Abyss, Money is the core part of the progression system, as having enough of it allows you to purchase better equipment. With powerful Guns and Tubes you can farm higher-rarity Fish in the game’s end-game regions.
Guide Overview
The guide primarily focuses on quick and smart ways to farm Money in each stage of the game. To easily navigate our Abyss Money Making Guide, we’ve decided to divide it into different segments, all of which correspond to your current progress in the game.

Chest Locations
Chests are always, and we mean always, a great source of Money, EXP and Star Shards, as well as other Items. However, they can sometimes be hard to find. We’ve tracked down all of the Chests in Abyss. For their locations, take a look at our Treasure Chests page!
Early Game Money Farm

In the early stages of Abyss, one of your main priorities, besides farming Fish, is doing all of the starter Quests and earning enough EXP to reach Level 5 and Money to buy the Pufferfish Tube. At this point, you’ll be able to start doing the Diver Quests.
In addition, some Races, like the Sea Angel, Kraken, Anglerfish and Spirit, have passive buffs which increase your overall Money earned. If you’re lucky enough to roll for them, you’ll be golden.
Equipment Note: Even though an upgrade can be enticing, we don’t recommend it. Most of the early on Tubes and Guns are replaceable at best. Focus on obtaining the Pufferfish Tube, besides that, hold on to your Money until you reach the Ancient Sands/Mid Game.
Early Game Quests
Finishing all of the tutorial Kraken Quests will give you a significant Money, and Star Shards boost early on. Aside from them, we also recommend picking up all of the available Mr. Black and Virelia NPC Quests as well.

All of their associated Quests reward you with decent Money, EXP and Star Shards. The best part about their and the Diver’s Quests? You can do all of them simultaneously, without interfering with each other.
Diver Quests
The Diver Quests consist of a number of different delivery tasks. He will ask you to deliver crates of different weights to various NPCs in all of the regions in Abyss. For the purposes of the Early Game section of this guide, we’ll just focus on the early ones.
While testing, we discovered that the Pufferfish tube will be enough to help you complete up to 6 of the Diver’s Quest, netting you an easy ~$3,500.
Note: With the right Artifacts equipped, you can complete even more Diver Quests, thus earning more Money.

Early Game Fish Farms
Farming Fishes for Money in Abyss can get repetitive, especially early on. However, knowing which ones to focus on makes it easier. For the early game, we recommend focusing on the Salmon and Mahi Mahi Fishes.
| Salmon | Mahi Mahi |
|---|---|
Consider these two as the middle ground when it comes to farming early on. They’ll net you a decent amount of both Money and EXP, whilst not being hostile like the Barracuda or the Pufferfish. If you happen to catch Mutated versions of these, you’ll be rolling in cash early on.
Quick Tip:
To easily spot Fishes with Mutations, we recommend investing $450 into buying a Radar from Richard in Forgotten Deep. When used, the Radar will scan Fishes in a large area around you, displaying their Name, Current Health and Mutations (if there are any.) Use it to focus on grabbing Mutated Fish instead of wasting time on the normal ones.

Mid Game Money Farm

Once you reach Mid Game, specifically the Ancient Sands region, the amount of Money, and the speed at which you’ll be able to farm it increases significantly. For start, we recommend purchasing the Crossbow Gun. This will allow you to farm Fish early on in the region.
Note: Ignore purchasing the Boat Tube from Marcus. Instead, use the methods in the sections above and below to farm enough Money for a Zepline Tube. The Zepline tube can be purchased after completing 5 Quests for the Diver NPC.
Mid Game Quests
In the Mid Game of Abyss, you’ll primarily want to focus on completing the Marcus and Grumpy Hank NPC Quests. Completing all of their associated Quests will net you around $20,000-$25,000 from each of the NPCs.

Note: While you’re there, we also recommend going back to the Diver NPC and continuing on with his Questline. A decent amount of Quests handed out by him later on take place in the Ancient Sands region, so you’ll be able to do them simultaneously with the ones above.
Mid Game Fish Farms
In the early stages of the Mid Game, we recommend farming Cod and Blackfin Tuna. Both of these Fishes bring in decent profit, while not being a hassle by constantly attacking you. As mentioned in the Early Game section, always focus on catching Mutated variants.

After you settle in a bit and upgrade your gear enough, especially getting at least the Wasted Gun from the Crazy Jeff’s Store, you’ll be able to focus on farming higher value Fishes in the area. We recommend going for the Shark, or the Bigmouth Fishes.

Note: At first, these two Fishes might be a bit harder to obtain, but after upgrading your gear following the info above you should be good to go! (Note Note: The Shark still bites hard so beware.)
End Game Money Farm

That’s it, we’re finally in the end–game. The Spirit Roots region is home to some of the rarest, and most difficult to acquire Fishes in Abyss. It is also the deepest region in Abyss, which means it’s time to upgrade your Tube. If you feel like rushing it, which we don’t recommend, you can visit the area with the Zepline Tube you’ve purchased earlier.
With it equipped, you can skim the top area of the Spirit Roots region, but you’ll not make it in the deeper ones, as the Zepline Tube is only functional up to 375 meters. Instead, try to go for the Rukiry Tube, which can be bought from Grumpy Hank, or if you’ve saved up enough Money, go straight for the Oxy Tube. The depth difference is honestly insignificant between the two, however, the Oxy Tube overall Stats are far superior to the Rukiry one.
The Wasted Gun will work in this region, but only for certain Fishes. Exchange it for the Magroot Gun as soon as possible.
End Game Quests
The Quests in the End Game of the Abyss reward you with a staggering amount of Money on completion. Your primary focus should be on finishing all of the Quests you can find, especially the Lumi and Isolde NPC ones, mainly because the Isolde Questline will unlock the Victor’s Shop area which is home to one of the best Gun and Tube pairs in the game.

End Game Fish Farms
As this is the end-game region, even the most common of Fishes are worth something. If you’re still running a weaker loadout (Zeplin Tube/Wasted Gun) you might try going for the lower rarity Fishes like the Pacific Fanfish, Napoleon or the Jellyfish (careful, it stings,).
Although they won’t make you rich overnight, they can still be somewhat useful in the early stages.
| Pacific Fanfish | Napoleon | Jellyfish |

However, the best Money farming method has to be the Epic Fishes in Spirit Roots, or if you’re lucky enough a Whale. The Mythical Fishes are too rare and take too long to spawn.
| Sailfish | Hammerhead Shark |
|---|---|

The Whale, price wise is the best Money earner in the game. Although, it too can be rare. Server hopping might be an effective method for hunting them consistently.
| Whale |

Note: The Epic Fishes, Sailfish and Hammerhead Shark, as well as the Whale are all agressive. The Whale also functions as a Mini Boss if you will, meaning that you can’t actually catch it, you can only kill it.
To finish off this guide, in essence, all of the end-game Fishes bring in money, but we recommend going for and primarily focusing on the higher rarity ones.
