They crafted many magical artifacts, the most important of which being the so called “Gem of the World”, a stone that was to be used as a conduit for the mana of the kingdoms most powerful mages. However, it never saw its purpose fulfilled, as when the ritual began, the overwhelming power being funneled into the crystal caused an explosion of arcane energy that ripped through the entire kingdom wiping its population out. Eventually, the long dormant mana residuals of the kingdoms inhabitants would ignite once more. These sparks of mana would crawl back to their former bodies and reconstitute whatever semblance of a physical form they could. Once risen, the Withered reclaimed their kingdom, creating a necropolis in its stead. But something is missing from this kingdom of decay, the Gem of the World. |
