Tokyo: RE Direct Livestream

Tokyo: RE Direct was a major livestream the developers of the game did on the 26th of September of 2025. It covered some major info regarding quests, combat, movement, races and more.

Progression

As per the Direct livestream, the progression will be split into two main parts. For the majority of the game players will be able to progress purely with PVE, while the late game and the higher ranks will rely on PVP.

There will also be a Missions system that changes depending on the players race (Ghoul or CCG).

The game itself stars off with a simple/tutorial mission that requires the player to save an NPC from a gang enforcer. (this functions as the combat tutorial)

Combat

Tokyo: RE combat is designed to be fluid and responsive. Although it has mechanic that are common in most parry based games, it also tried implementing mechanics unique to Tokyo: RE. When it comes to offense, there are basic attacks, criticals (which deal more posture damage), some Weapons/Kagunes might have an aerial variant, aerial attacks, running attacks and skills. However, the main thing you should pay attention to is your stamina. Stamina is the core resource that fuels your actions, basic attacks consume little stamina (successfully hitting an opponent restores your stamina) and can even be performed without it however, your Skills will require a certain amount of Stamina, otherwise you won’t be able to perform them. This system rewards accurate aggression, punishing those who mindlessly spam attacks while empowering those who fight with purpose.

When it comes to defense, you also have many options. Blocking, parrying, dodging, vanish dodging ( a.k.a C dodging or Spot dodging). Posture is also a mechanic in Tokyo: RE, which should be familiar to most players who have played perry based games. Whenever your posture bar is maxed out, you will be staggered for a short duration.

Movement

Movement is one of the most polished things that the developers showcased in the livestream. There is a parkour system in the game which lets the players traverse the map quicky.

Ghouls will have additional movement buffs like faster and better climbing, running and jumping. While the CCG members will get gadgets that will help them keep up with Ghouls in battle, some confirmed gadgets are: ladder and grappling hooks.
