Overview
Operation Heartburn is different from other expeditions. You will have to shoot your way through quadrants infested with Revenants, in order to get to The Heart, which is located beneath Sköll Pulse Laser Drill.
Once the player reaches The Heart, they need to activate a series of consoles which will give permission to turn on the drill, and then activate a final console to confirm the activation.
The drill will kill The Heart and the player can then take the cargo elevator to the exit, achieving victory for the expedition.
Operation Heartburn Monsters
| Monster | Description | Mechanics and Strategy |
|---|---|---|
![]() Revenants | Revenants are the former Blacksite personel infested by Rotten Coral. The infestation from the Rotten Coral varies, but the head and arms are usually the most severe. | Revenants spawn continuously from Rotten Coral, until the Quadrant is cleared. They have 8 HP and deal 10 damage on contact. As you progress through the Quadrants, they become faster, more aggressive, and spawn in larger numbers. Make sure to clear areas and reduce the amount that spawns. |
![]() Sprinters | Sprinters are a variant of Revenant that rapidly sprint at the player. Other than the speed, they look the same. | Players should prioritize Sprinters over normal Revenants as they can close the gap faster, which could be problematic in the final sequence. |
![]() Bulwark | Bulwarks resemble a Revenant, with both of its arms fused with the lower half of a broken door, they are headless with only a couple insectoid eyestalks protruding from their necks. | Bulwark may spawn from Rotten Coral and will start approaching the player. When a player is in front of its weaponised door, it will wind up slightly attempting to bash the player with the door, dealing 35 damage and ragdolling for roughly 2 seconds on hit. Shoot them from behind or at their sides to deal damage to them. It’s easier if you bait their attack first. |
![]() Abscess | Abscesses resemble a Revenant with its upper half replaced by thin stalk of Rotten Coral, ending in a fleshy ball of coral with green, glowing spots. | Abscess may spawn from Rotten Coral and will start approaching the player. When it reaches the player, it will emit a loud screaming sound, and explode, dealing 40 damage. Damaged players will have their shotgun forcefully unequipped. Shoot them as soon as possible. |
![]() Marksman | Marksmen appear as typical Revenants, but have a Turret directly attached to their chest and no head. The turret’s line of sight is indicated by red lasers. | Marksmen spawn from Rotten Coral. They will try to keep line of sight with the player. Once they see the player, they will shoot at them, dealing 5 damage. Marksmen fire and rotate much slower than regular Turrets found in the Hadal Blacksite because of this, one can simply move around and shoot them. |
![]() Scuttler | Scuttler resembles a revenant. They don’t have a head but do have coral tube cluster instead. | Scuttlers are similar to Sprinters as they can close the gap even faster. They are relatively easy to kill and should be prioritized instead of regular Revenants. |
![]() Rook | Rooks look like heavily malformed Revenants. They are fairly taller than the player. Their upper body is cut in half horizontally, revealing their unnaturally elongated spine. | Rook spawns from Rotten Coral. Rook’s charge at the player, dealing 30 damage and stunning the player if the attack connects, but leaving the Rook vulnerable if the attack misses. Best way to deal with Rooks is by baiting their charge, as it leaves them exposed. |
![]() Pariah | Pariahs resemble malformed, humanoid Revenants. Pariahs are tall, and their lower bodies are covered with a cloak. Pariahs are visible even behind an obstruction. | Pariah will randomly spawn near the player and slowly approach them. If the Pariah is too far away, it will become invisible, and turn visible again when it’s near the player. If the Pariah is 4 studs away from the player, it will instantly kill them. Make sure that you are not cornered, and kill it as soon as possible. |
